Salute Haul

It's been 3 years since my last visit to Salute and it seemed to be bigger. I entered the hall about 11.45 and the bags and free figures had just gone but there was no queue.
There were so many traders to see and as I didn't know I was able to go until that morning I didn't have a plan or shopping list. This meant less time to look at games, though what I did see looked good. I did stop off and chat to one of the gamers from the Jersey Privateers Games Club. They had a nice 15mm WW2 game with FOW miniatures and some lovely scenery. Good effort and nice chaps (though I'm biased as I'm and islander myself).

As for the haul here it is

Apart from the obvious there are a couple of extra vehicles for the NSL and a couple of packets of extra troops for the GZG NAC I painted earlier this year.

Overall I enjoyed the show and was impressed with the amount of traders though some of them need more space (Empress for example) and there seemed to be space available. My only gripes would be that the light in the hall was poor and I was amazed to see that the parking fee had nearly doubled in 3 years to £15 (criminal).

  1. Agreed about Empress. You couldn't get near them!

    1. I tried a couple of times to get near to the front - best I got was looking over a shoulder at a few of the AFV's. I wasn't after anything but do enjoy looking at their wares.

    2. I was fortunate in that we finished setting up the game by 09:30 so was able to pop over and pick up my order before the wave of humanity hit the hall.

  2. Nice haul; BTW, my buddy Pat Lowinger has an article in the WS&S issue you picked up - Alexander vs. Scythians.

  3. Sanp on the Gruntz rules and the NSL start army pack.

I completely forgot to go to the WSS stand to pick up my subscription copy early.

    1. looking forward to seeing your NSL painted up - any ideas where it'll be in your plan?
Thought I saw you at salute but wasn't sure - was your hair in a pony tail ?

    2. I might just move them up the queue to be painted after I've finished my FSE fleet and civvy ships.

And yes, my hair was in a pony tail

    1. It was a good day but busy. I prefer slightly smaller show but then you don't get so many traders.

  5. Let me know about the Gruntz rules. I'm in 2 minds about getting them. Other than that a very nice swag bag. If you want the free figure from the bag and a dice let me know, I will not be using mine.

    1. Thanks Clint - I've had a brief look at the Gruntz and they seem to have a nice feel to them but as I never play anything I might never find out more !
If you have the figure still that would be nice, if you really don't mind.
      Cheers
